PARENT NEWS

PARENTS:
Report cards will be sent home Friday, October 19. Please sign and return the envelope by Monday.

6th grade will join all of MCCSC 6th graders at IU's MAC for a live jazz performance on Tuesday the 23rd from 9-11:00

We are starting a unit on playwriting to help conceptualize the various elements within the storyline of a plot. We are  developing a strong protagonist who will be in some form of conflict, encountering struggles with rising action building to a climax, and the action falls as the conflict is resolved.  As plays necessitate the author to fully visualize each moment, I find this a great way to practice developing these story elements.

We are starting a unit on energy in science and have begun to explore  potential and kinetic energy. We will continue to explore this and other energy transformations as the unit unfolds the physical side of science. We will also delve into basic engineering concepts as we look at the Roman ingenuity and innovation that took centuries to regain after the fall of the empire.

Friday, October 13th, NO SCHOOL: Fall Break

The University Fall Campaign has begun! Look for the gold form! Be sure this is signed and returned to school with your child. The whole class will get a special treat as soon as all the forms are considered, signed, and returned.

We have come so far this year! I am so very proud of each and every student in our class! Have your child share a piece of their writing. Super cool words are being orchestrated!

Please be sure to check the red folder daily and promptly return necessary paperwork

Ms. Scott likes to use Time For Kids as a means to enhance the students' global perspective as well as the opportunity to own and read their own authentic news medium geared specifically to children. We will be purchasing a year-long subscription of the magazine for each student. If you could possibly donate $4.00 that would be a wonderful gift for your child :) If you could send this in with your child, that would be great.
